This newspaper design of the Daily Mail is a national newspaper so it will cover major stories compared to that of local news. The headfline needs to stand out to grab attention of readers, and because it is nation news it needs to be intersting and fitting to the public.
The logo is a recognised feature of the newspaper as the public will recognise it. the headline covers most of the page to add effect and the front cover only contains two main stories to keep it short and attractive.
Most national newspapers follow the same basic layout with an eye catching headline and bold font. Underlining is also a good feature as it adds importance to the headline and makes it stand out from the rest of the paper.

Front Page Design. Wigan Observer.
The logo for the “Wigan Evening Post” makes the paper stand out and be attractive to its audience. The enlarged picture
This paper is also a local newspaper that covers local events in the Wigan area. Along with local stories this newspaper covers local adverts on other pages that will be beneficial to the public of Wigan and surrounding areas.
The Wigan Observer uses a different style of logo and mainly has the main headline spread out of the front page with little adverts or minor stories surrounding it.
Front Page Design. Wigan Reporter.
My newspaper design follows similar patterns and layouts to other famous tablets.
I started by researching into past newspaper designs and noticed that most have a title written in bold and is also followed by being underlined to add extra importance and effect.
The storyline is about a local theme, news that most probably wouldn't make the headlines otherwise. This paper illustrates stories from a local prospective and tries to grab people’s attention by using relevant information. Other, more popular, papers may use naton news to headline thier paper but because the Wigan Reporter is only local the news is on the same scale.
Most common newspapers use a background colour on their title which makes it stand out and separates them from the actually main headline.
