Front Page Images.

For my main story i decided to use the story of a young, local lad being involved in drug abuse resulting in a life changing experience. i feel as though this story will attract a lot of attention because it will interest many people and make them aware of the consequences of drugs. although this story produces a negative image, people will become very interested. i decided to display my subject in normal student clothes however the use of the hood trys to indicate a "thugish" image about him. this picture demonstrates perfectly how the local student has changed his life for drugs.

Banner

I have created a banner for my newspaper to be positioned just above my main headline and underneith my newspaper name. I have chosen to make a banner because i noticed the general theme of banners in current newspapers and the affectiveness of using a banner.i have chosen the banner to advertise a holiday because it will be interesting to many people and will grap their attention with the use of contrasting colours and large text.

Front Page.

This is the front of my newspaper, i have asked thirs party members to comment on my newspaper as a source of feedback for either compliments or constructive criticism. the general feedback was good for my front cover as people liked the use of colours and images.

My Adverts.

For my adverts i decided to create a local bedroom's shoowroom advert, a chance to win cash for a local school advert, a pawnbrokers advert and a free holiday advert.
i have chosen to create these adverts based on the layout of other newspapers and i noticed that these types of advert are very popular in local newspapers. the Dreamz and Free Holidays adverts will be placed at the top of my newspaper while the other two will be positioned at the bottom. this type of layout is important so not all adverts are squashed but not too far spread apart to put the reader off the newspaper.
i decided on the plain and simple green colouring for my Dreamz advert. this colour scheme is ordinary but however stands out with contrast to the rest of the newspaper.
my second advert was the Win cash for schools advert. this advert is a simple and effective and grabs the interest of the reader straight away.

Advert Designs.

This advert can be shown in either local or national newspapers as it will interest most of the general public. The advert design is rather simple but however it stands out and will attract attention through the vibrant colour scheme. The advert exaggerates how good the car will look after the paint protection is applied to interest the reader and try to intrege them.

Front Page Adverts.

These adverts are the same type that i will be using in my newspaper. they advertise local businesses and promote them to the public surrounding the newspaper.

Front Page Story.

My idea is a distressed story of a local boy who throws his education away when he is arrested after a drug raid. I feel this is a very impacting story to use as it will attract the intrest of the readers and it is a very touching story so will keep the readers focused. Above is the picture i will be using for the front cover, cropped slightly.

Newspaper TV Advert Ideas.

I have researched these adverts for different newspapers online, looking for different ways in which each newspaper presents itself via the internet. Each paper advertises itself by using catchy phrases and memorable videos in the advert. These adverts follow all similar themes and are great for attracting customers.

Front Page Template.

I have created a template to demonstrate where i will put various conventions onto my front page. I have decided to display the main advert and headline in the middle of the page to attract attention towards them. The pictures along side the main headline show what the main story is about. These techniques add the most effect and the layout will apopeal to all types of audiences, rather than a specific type.

I have included this spider diagram to demonstrate the different ideas that can be used as a main headline for my newspaper. There could also be ideas involving charity work or an unique experience.

Front Cover Design. Daily Star.

When I began looking at previous newspaper designs i noticed that many papers follow the stereotypical design and layout of using a specific colour scheme, keeping the slogan and headline in the same format and also displaying adverts in the same way.
I have chosen to use a design that follows previous newspaper layouts, by warping the text around the main headline and picture all the attention is drawn towards the main story. This is a simple and very effective way to attract attention and focus on the main headline.

The use of adverts also allows the main headline stand out but however they too attract attention in the bright colours and font used. The adverts are all of general interest to the public and so will attract the readers attention.

Front Cover Design. Daily Mail.

This newspaper design of the Daily Mail is a national newspaper so it will cover major stories compared to that of local news. The headfline needs to stand out to grab attention of readers, and because it is nation news it needs to be intersting and fitting to the public.

The logo is a recognised feature of the newspaper as the public will recognise it. the headline covers most of the page to add effect and the front cover only contains two main stories to keep it short and attractive.

Most national newspapers follow the same basic layout with an eye catching headline and bold font. Underlining is also a good feature as it adds importance to the headline and makes it stand out from the rest of the paper.

Front Page Design. Wigan Observer.

The logo for the “Wigan Evening Post” makes the paper stand out and be attractive to its audience. The enlarged picture

This paper is also a local newspaper that covers local events in the Wigan area. Along with local stories this newspaper covers local adverts on other pages that will be beneficial to the public of Wigan and surrounding areas.

The Wigan Observer uses a different style of logo and mainly has the main headline spread out of the front page with little adverts or minor stories surrounding it.

Front Page Design. Wigan Reporter.

My newspaper design follows similar patterns and layouts to other famous tablets.

I started by researching into past newspaper designs and noticed that most  have a title written in bold and is also followed by being underlined to add extra importance and effect.

The storyline is about a local theme, news that most probably wouldn't make the headlines otherwise. This paper illustrates stories from a local prospective and tries to grab people’s attention by using relevant information. Other, more popular, papers may use naton news to headline thier paper but because the Wigan Reporter is only local the news is on the same scale.
Most common newspapers use a background colour on their title which makes it stand out and separates them from the actually main headline.

Newspapers

For My A2 coursework i will be producing the front cover and the first page of a newspaper. The newspaper will be generated from ideas and templates that have been used in successful local newspapers.
